Here's a couple of grabs from Uncube Magazine . They commissioned me to photograph one of Southampton's leading pieces of architecture by Leon Berger, the crematorium to be exact. First time I've ever had to photograph a crematorium but was definitely an interesting place and a classic piece of design from it's time. Love the layout in Uncube magazine, well worth a look if you have a keen eye for architecture.
Sideburn Magazine
Happy to see a shoot with Redmax's latest build featured in Sideburn magazine. Awesome magazine, great to work with them!
Photographing the Burton
Did a quick shoot in London of a new custom motorcycle built by Ed (the owner) and Redmax Speedshop. A cross between a Buell and a Norton, hence why it's called a Burton. Was a little limited on time and location beforehand but manged to grab some nice shots under the railway arches as well as action shots.
Interiors shoot in Taunton
Had another commission to shoot the new design of a bar and restaurant in Taunton, Somerset. Great location and nice to do some more work with Focus Design.
Work in Monocle magazine
Received a commission from Monocle magazine to document the transportation and installation of one of Antony Gormley's statues for their transport issue. Monocle's a magazine I've been really keen to work with so it's great to get some work in there.
Exhibition of work at Solent Showcase
Really pleased to have a selection of images from my ongoing 'The Works' project on display as part of the 'Right Here: City as muse' exhibition at Solent Showcase gallery in Southampton. Great to see my work alongside local artists Greg Gilbert, Jilly Evans and Alys Scot Hawkins.
Interiors
Dock workers
Recently got the chance to go down to Southampton docks to photograph the dock workers (Solent Stevedores) for 'The Works' project, of which I've been working on for the last couple of years. Here's a small selection from the days work, taken beside the ships or onboard. Some of these will hopefully be on show at an upcoming exhibition in Southampton.
Interiors commissions
Did a couple of interiors shoots for Focus Design who do really nice interior design for restaurants. Here's some shots from the commission.
Classic bike shoot
Shot a real rare bike (MV Agusta Monza) for a magazine a couple weeks ago. Decided to shoot it up on an old viaduct in winchester to make a nice backdrop. Had limited time with the bike so decided to go without lighting which is a bit of a gamble but all paid off with the help of the owner Andy. Bike hopefully being featured early next year.
Grasstrack dirt racing
As you can probably tell from previous posts I'm a bit of nut for anything motorbike or motorsport related and take any opportunity to watch some racing if it's happening nearby. Here's a few shots taken at a grasstrack race in Oxford, love the aesthetics of these oily old bikes and the dedication of the old guys racing them flat out!
Staff and factory shots for Clockworx design
I was recently commissioned by Clockworx design to photograph the staff of SPS and their factory for their new website. Nice commission spending two days getting informal, candid shots of the staff at work there, here's a few examples.
Day of dragsters
Spent a day at Santa Pod raceway photographing the first round of the FIA Drag racing championship. Everything about the cars is extreme from the paint jobs to the engines and speed. Really interesting and exciting to get up close to it all as they fly down the strip.
Forever Two Wheels mag
Very happy to see two of my bike shoots featured in FTW magazine and on the cover. Had fun shooting the orange Ducati in Fawley Power Station and the Yamaha XS at Brooklands. The hard work paid off!
Red Marley
Here are a few shots I grabbed from a day of watching some veteran dirt-bikes and riders tear up a hill in Worcestershire. It's an annual event called the Red Marley Hill-climb, didn't know much about it but apparently it's been going for ages. Hard not to take any shots, so many fantastic old bikes and characters riding them. Shot these on my pentax67 and digi.
Architecture in the South Downs
Late last year Dan Brill Architects commissioned me to photograph one of their projects near Winchester, named Point Seven. Really interesting shoot to work on as there were so many nice details and angles to focus on, looking forward to shooting more projects with Dan Brill in the future. More examples on my site.
Ducati shoot in the power station
Recently did another shoot with Redmax Speedshop, this time the Redmax team had just finished this stunning Ducati/cafe-racer build. Seeing as it was a particularly special build I wanted to shoot it in a location that would be just as striking and put some emphasise on engineering. I decided on Fawley Power Station and after a few emails it was sorted, and here are a few shots from the day. Thanks to Russ Morgan for all his help on the day.
See more on my site.
The Docks at Dawn
Got up fresh and early to grab some shots of the docks for 'The Works' project. Here's one I took on the 5x4 camera. Going to be adding more to the project soon!
Out shooting in Southampton water
As part of my continuing project 'The Works' I've been fortunate enough to go out on the water with one the Svitzer boat crews. I followed them for the day as they carried out their precise duty of towing and guiding some of the colossal ships that come in out of Southampton. Here's a few initial examples from the day. Thanks to Darren Matthews and Svitzer.
Shooting custom bikes
Here's a few examples of a quick shoot I did for RedMax Speedshop, a custom motorcycle workshop based in Hampshire. After doing some reconnaissance for locations, Old Sarum Airfield, an old RAF station, seemed to be the perfect location and backdrop for the shoot, and the light inside the main hangar was perfect.
